REPORT ON RANGOLI COMPETITION

OBJECTIVE: Chennai Week Celebration.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
To commemorate the Chennai Week Celebration, 2017, the Student Coordination Committee of the college conducted an Intracollegiate Rangoli competition on the topic Chennai Heritage (Culture, Art, Tradition, Custom). Ms.M.Banumathy, Asst.Prof, Dept.of.Maths and Mr.M.Padmanaban, Asst.Prof ,Dept.of.Tamil were the judges.
The following students were declared as prize winners for the competition.

REPORT ON CHENNAI WEEK CELEBRATION

OBJECTIVE: Chennai Week Celebration.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION: Chennai week celebration
As a part of Chennai Week Celebration, 2017, the Student Coordination Committee gave a Power Point Presentation and screened a Documentary on Chennai Heritage to all the second year and third year students in the college for two days. Ms.D. Thenmozhi, Asst. Prof, Dept.of. Computer Science gave a Power Point Presentation on the topic Chennai Heritage. Both the events focused on the theme, Chennai city, its history, past and present. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks by Ms.K.T. Hema, Vice Principal.

REPORT ON INAUGURAL FUNCTION

OBJECTIVE: The need for celebration of Cultural Programmes and National Youth Day in educational institutions.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION :
The committee conducted competitions to commemorate the Independence Day celebration. Ms.D.Thenmozhi, Asst.Prof, Dept.of.Computer Science, welcomed the gathering. Dr.R.Gayathri, the Principal gave the Inaugural speech. She insisted the need for cultural programmes in educational institutions and motivated the students. The students took the oath on the celebration of National Youth Day along with NSS coordinator Dr.S.Srividhya, Asst.Prof, Dept.of.BioChemistry. Oratorical and Singing competitions were conducted as a part of the programme. 12 students participated in the oratorical competition and 5 students in the singing competition. Dr.J.Vanathi, HOD, Dept.of.Computer Science and Mr.B.Ezhilan, Asst.Prof ,Dept.of.Tamil were the judges. The programme concluded with Vote of Thanks by Ms.M.Anandavalli, Asst.Prof, Dept.of.Computer Science. Ms.B.Mahalakshmi of II BCom A did the Master of Ceremony.

REPORT ON VIBRANT 2017 (THE INTRAMURAL COMPETITION) VALEDICTORY

TITLE: Valedictory of VIBRANT 2017

AUDIENCE: Final Year Students from all the departments
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The committee provided an opportunity for the students to express their creative-side and created a platform to improve their skills in extracurricular domain. Based on this objective, a variety of Intramural Fine Art competitions were organized, for every student at TSN to participate and compete with interest and ability.
The committee gave a particular theme to kindle their thoughts and hence the theme NATIONALITY and ENVIRONMENT for On-Stage Events and FESTIVALS and HERITAGE BUILDINGS for Off-Stage Events had been chosen. Henceforth, On-Stage events such as Solo Singing, Battle of Bands, Mimicry and Choreo Fest - Solo and Group were conducted on 11.02.2017 and 25.02.2017, Off-Stage events such as Art from Waste, Mehendhi, Model Making and Painting on 28.02.2017. The events were judged by various judges who are expert in that particular skill. Based on the judgment, the winners were selected.
In order to honor the winners, the committee organized the Valedictory function and the winners received the prizes. Also the winners' performances were presented to the audience. The main highlight of this event was the "ALL ROUNDER ROLLING TROPHY" which was received by the Department of Computer Science. The winners along with their Head of the Department received it enthusiastically.

REPORT ON KNOW YOUR CHENNAI - ITS HERITAGE WALK
DRAWING COMPETITION

DATE: 24.08.2016 TIME: 12.45 PM to 2.30 PM
VENUE: ELANGO ARANGAM
As a part of Madras Week 2016 celebrations, Student Coordination Committee conducted a drawing competition to explore the creativity of the students to commemorate their love for Madras on 24.08.2016. The famous iconic landmarks, their favorite spots and the monuments were the creations submitted by the students. The work was judged and two prizes were given. A. Karthik of III B.Sc. Computer Science won the first prize and K. Dinesh of III B.Com. Corporate won the second prize The rest of the creation along with the winners were exhibited in the college blocks in order to share the memories about 377th birthday of Madras.

REPORT ON HIS EXCELLENCY LATE DR. A.P.J. ABDUL KALAM'S MEMORIAL DAY

DAY: 27.07.2016 TIME: 10.15 A.M.
VENUE: ELANGO ARANGAM
TARGET AUDIENCE: I & II YEAR STUDENTS
To remember one of the greatest, wisest, humblest humanbeing on his first death anniversary, Student Co-ordination Committee organized a speech competition named "Manitha Neyathin Maru Uruvam Abdul Kalam" for the students. Prof. Dr. V. Ganapathy, Department of Tamil was the guest of honor and he presented a poem on Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
Students participated in the competition enthusiastically and presented Dr.Kalam's life history and inspiring thoughts to the audience. Also they conveyed one of his best messages to the youth namely "they should have courage to think differently, courage to invent, to travel the unexplored path, courage to discover the impossible and to conquer the problems and succeed", to the young people. A biography video and a motivational speech of Dr.Kalam were broadcast for the student audience. The first prize went to Ms. Shaik Irfana Parveen .J, II B.Com 'A' with the first runner-up going to Ms. Srija .K, III BCA of this Speech Competition.
Finally, the Memorial Day concluded with Dr.Kalam's saying "When the hopes and dreams and goals are dashed, search among the wreckage, you may find a golden opportunity hidden in the ruins".
