Mr. S. Kamalakannan is working as Director of Physical Education in our college from 3rd December 2007. He received B.A(Economics) from University of Madras during 1993. He has also done his B.P.Ed. and M.P.Ed. in Physical Education from YMCA college of Physical Education during 1996 and 1997 respectively. His M.Phil in Physical Education with specialization in Exercise Physiology is also from YMCA College of Physical Education, affiliated to University of Madras in the year 1998. He is now pursuing his Ph.D in physical Education under the supervision of Dr. V. Mahadevan, Director, Dept of Physical education University of Madras.
He is working in the area "SPORTS TRAINING METHODS". He has already published seven papers in UGC sponsored National level conferences and seminars. He is a member board of studies, examiner for B.Sc. Naturopathi and Yogic sciences, B.A Yoga for Human Excellence and other diploma courses.
He is a member, selection committee for various games and sport of University of Madras. He is acting as a coach for University of Madras Hand Ball team since 1995 and Manager cum coach for university athletic team from 2004. He represented the Tamil Nadu state Hand Ball team from 1992 to 2005 and played for nearly 12 National Handball champion ship Tournaments. He is also qualified for national level referee examination in Handball in the year 2006.
He produced more than 60 handball players at senior and junior levels. He started his career as teacher in physical education at MCTM Hr. Sec school, purasawalkam during 1997 and shifted to Agarwal vidyala Mat. Hr. Sec school Vepery during 1998. From 1999 to 2007 he served in KCS Kasi Nadar College of Arts and Science as Director of physical education.
The college provides facilities and encouragement for every sport activity that students are interested in. Exceptional talents are given adequate encouragement to emerge as winning performers in their chosen sporting disciplines. The aim of this Department is to train the students for being physically fit and mentally strong.
The Department has facilities for organizing outdoor games and indoor games such as,
Cricket, Volley ball, Throw ball, Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Shuttle, Ball Badminton, Tennicoit, Javelin throw, Discuss throw, Shot-put, Long jump, High jump, Athletics.
The Department of Physical Education was established in the year 1996. From the inception the Department has been taking interest to promote sports. The college has produced many national and university level players from its inception. Sports and Health club was started in the year 2013 with 80 students. Now it has 250 students to create awareness on sports and health maintenance.
1. The sports day events will commence from 6 January 2017.
2. The sports committee is going to organize a guest lecture on the topic "Nutrition and Diet" on 7 January 2017.
3. The Volleyball(Men) and Football(Men) team of our college is going to participate "Kumaran Asan Trophy" tournament at Asan Arts and Science College on 6 February 2017.
4. The Cricket team of our college is going to participate "Quidemillet Cricket Tournament" during the last week of January.
5. The Throw ball(Women)and Volleyball(Men),Kabadi(Men) team of our college is going to participate the "JETS" tournament at St.Josheph Engineering college during the month of February.
6. The valedictory function of sports day is going to be held during the second week of February.
Kho-Kho team of our college participated in the National level Kho-Kho tournament from 14.10.2016 to 16.10.2016 at Kumarani Meena Muthaiah College of Arts and Science, Chennai.
Our students entered quarter finals and played against Kumarani Meena Muthaiah College. Finally, the match was declared a draw, as both the teams had scored equal points.

The college encourages students to play various games and participate in inter and intra collegiate competitions.
Students have represented the college in various tournaments conducted by the University of Madras and won prizes.
