Environment Club

An Enviro club is an ideal place for every student, to gain environmental literacy as well as to reflect the quality of total educational experience. The Objectives of Our Enviro club are:

  • To spread Environment Literacy among student's community.
  • To maintain the Environment of our campus and set up Environment Corners (Herbal garden, Composting pit etc)
  • To make the Campus more Eco friendly.
  • To spread awareness on sustainable living through educational activities such as Posters, Quiz Play, Essay and Poetry Competitions.
  • To invite Speakers from eminent Social groups such as Red Cross, Forest department and Ministry of Health etc, to present Lectures on National and Global Environmental Problems and Protection.
  • To conduct environmental Literacy campaign through News Letters, Posters, Exhibitions, Enviro Walks (Rally) and conservation programs (Beach cleaning, Turtle Conservation) in association with certain N.G.O's.
  • The club also aims to celebrate Environmental events every month.

World Environment Day Celebration - 2017

T.S. Narayanaswami College of Arts and Science, Navalur, celebrated the World Environment Day in the college premises on 5 June 2017. The celebration began with the campus cleaning work by the college students. Followed by, the correspondent Mr.V.Balasubramanian, the Principal, Dr.R.Gayathri, Staff members and students participated in plantation drive to make the campus green. To make the students aware on the advantages of Organic Farming and the need for establishing homestead gardens, an awareness programme on Organic Farming was organized by the Enviro club. Mr. Senthil Kumar Babu, Natural Organic Farmer, Ozhalai Organic Farm , elaborated the session to get our focus back on agriculture which is the primary industry and to manage its resources well. He discussed the key areas like soil health, climatic conditions, seeds and seedlings which form the support system for organic farming. He emphasized to choose indigenous seeds and crops which are best suited to the local soil and climate and to follow the traditional way of doing agriculture. He further encouraged the students to maintain their own farm and cultivate vegetables for their self, in addition to their primary profession. A demo was presented by the speaker on producing organic compost.

World Environment day - 2016

To commemorate the World Environment day on 5 June, the environment club of our college in association with NSS and ROTARACT club , celebrated the world Environment day on 3 June 2016 in our college campus. About 25 saplings were planted in the College to spread awareness among the student community regarding the importance of Green environment .The Principal and Vice President Education and training ICL, staff and students participated in this event.
